The One Question You Can Ask Right Now to Start Your Healing Journey

woman asking one question to listen to body

You don’t need a session to begin.

You don’t need to understand energy healing. You don’t need to have read anything about the Emotion Code or the Body Code. You don’t even need to know what “healing” means to you yet.

You just need one question.

And five quiet minutes to sit with the answer.

The Question

“If my body could say one thing to me today — what would it be?”

That’s it.

I know it might seem simple. It might even seem too simple.

But I want you to sit with it before you decide that.

Because this question does something that most of us rarely do.

It turns the conversation around.

Instead of us talking about the body — analysing it, diagnosing it, managing it, pushing through it — it invites the body to speak.

And the body has been waiting for this conversation for a long time.

Why This Question Matters

Most of us live in our heads.

We think about how we feel. We analyse our symptoms. We research our conditions. We make plans for how to manage what’s happening.

All of this is from the neck up.

But the body holds its own kind of intelligence.

Not logic. Not words. But sensation, and pressure, and tightness, and a kind of knowing that doesn’t always translate neatly into language.

When we ask the body what it wants to say — and when we actually listen — sometimes things become clear that years of thinking couldn’t clarify

I need you to slow down today or

I need you to move.

The body doesnt want something dramatic. Just few quiet things

But quiet ones often change everything.

How to Use This Question

Again, you don’t need a special space or a long ritual.

Just this:

Step 1: Pause. Put down whatever you’re doing. Close your phone screen. Take two or three slow breaths.

Step 2: Place a hand on your chest or stomach. Whichever feels more natural. This simple act of physical contact signals to the nervous system that you are paying attention.

Step 3: Ask the question inward. Not out loud. Just internally: If my body could say one thing to me today — what would it be?

Step 4: Wait. Don’t think. Notice. The answer might come as words. It might come as a feeling — a tightness, a warmth, a heaviness, a sudden emotion. It might come as an image or a memory. It might not come clearly the first time, and that’s okay. Sometimes the body takes time to open up.

Step 5: Write it down. Whatever arose — even if it didn’t make sense — write it down without editing or judging.

That’s your body beginning to speak.

What This Opens Up

This single question, asked regularly, begins to do something quietly powerful.

It rebuilds the relationship between you and your body.

Many of us — especially those of us who have been high-functioning, busy, always-managing — have learnt to override the body’s signals.

We pushed through pain. We ignored the exhaustion. We told ourselves we’d rest “after this deadline” or “when things slow down.”

And over time, the body learnt to speak louder.

Symptoms got more insistent. Pain got harder to ignore. The body found other ways to make itself heard.

When you begin asking this question — genuinely, gently — the body doesn’t have to shout anymore.

And sometimes, thats enough.

A Note on What Comes Up

Sometimes when people try this, they expect something profound.

Instead they might hear: I’m so tired of this. Or feel a sudden urge to cry. Or notice a heaviness in their throat they hadn’t registered before.

These are not small things. This is the body beginning to tell the truth.

Receive them gently. You don’t have to fix anything in this moment. You just have to listen. You need not analyse or judge.

True listening is the beginning of healing.

FAQ

What if I hear nothing when I ask this question? That’s okay. Many of us have been disconnected from our body’s signals for so long that rebuilding that channel takes a little time. Keep asking, gently, without pressure. You can even try my listening to body mini masterclass to re-connect with your body.

What if what comes up feels overwhelming? If strong emotions surface, you don’t have to stay with them alone. That intensity is a sign that your body has something important it’s been waiting to express. It’s also a good moment to consider working with support.

Can I do this every day? Yes — and it becomes more valuable over time. The more regularly you ask, the more clearly your body learns it will be heard.
